NIGERIANS ARE AT HIGH RISK OF CONTRACTING DEADLY EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE

 

Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), formerly known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever, is a severe illness that is spreading fast in West Africa. Though Ebola had 2 simultaneous outbreaks in Nzara, Sudan and in Yambuku, 

 Democratic Republic of Congo since 1976

 but it is believed now that Nigeria is at risk of contracting this deadly disease. The EVD have outbreaks of 90% case fatality rate.This disease is said to be deadlier than AIDS. Just 3 days ago, it claimed the lives 61 people in guinea.

 The virus is transmitted to people from wild animals and spread in human population through human-to-human transmission, with infection relating to direct contact (through broken skin or mucous membranes) with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected people, and indirect contact with environments contaminated with such fluids.

 As a matter of fact, this disease is said to be so deadly that mourners in burial ceremonies which have direct contact with the deceased can also play a role in the transmission of Ebola and even health workers who treat those that are infected have also been infected.

Signs and symptoms are intense weakness, muscle pain, headache, vomiting and sore throat which is later 

followed by vomiting, rash, diarrhea, impaired kidney and liver function, and in some cases, both internal and external bleeding. 

OJB sets up kidney fondation

Prolific music producer Babatunde Okungbowa aka OJB has set up a kidney related foundation that would focus on helping kidney patients in the country. OJB who is still recuperating from a Kidney transplant he had last year in India spoke with Encomium magazine about the Foundation
"It  would be called OJB Foundation. We are trying to set up one or more dialysis centers which patients will use at highly affordable cost. To this end we are discussing with partners who would make this happen. We are about to start the programme. We don't just want to be begging for funds. We have to look for a sustainable format. So we want to start a Save 20 campaign. From there, we move on with the support of the private sector, Government and Non Governmental Organizations, NGO" OJB said.
OJB also said he is currently working on his new album which is expected to drop in June.

Explosions were the morning greetings in maiduguri today

The city of Maiduguri in Borno state this morning experienced three large explosions suspected to be a major bomb attack, Sahara Reporters reports
Saharareporters could not ascertain if the explosions led to deaths or destruction of any kind. But our sources states that the three explosions were heard across the city.
SaharaRepoprters learnt that fighters from the Islamist sect Boko Haram are attempting to bomb and take over a major military base known as "Giwa barracks" in Maiduguri. A gunfight is raging in the area as at the time of publishing this report.

 The very talented actress who got married to Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede on the 26th of May in 2012 has actually left her husband's house.
Funke's husband spilled the beans ear...lier when he disclosed the break-up to this friends on his Facebook page...see what he wrote after the cut:
"It’s with heavy heart that am announcing the separation of me nd ma wife Mrs olufunke akindele,we’ve both agreed to go our separate ways coz of irreconcilable differences. We still best of friends nd we 4ever remain gud friends.
Kehinde concluded by saying:

Funke's publicist confirmed that the two have actually gone their separate ways. That the couple have been having problems (or what our oyinbo celebs call irreconcilable differences ) for a while and Funke is currently planning to divorce him quietly, only for Kehinde to disclose the ugly news on his Facebook page, which he has since deleted.

The Color Wheel: How to Combine Colors in your Wardrobe

Ever wonder how some of your favorite fashionistas put colors together to create eye-catching and fabulously colorful outfits? Well so does Fashion Bombshell Kendra who wrote in asking, “As a recessionista engineer, I cannot afford to buy a new wardrobe for the spring/summer. I have great pieces in my wardrobe already so I want to know how to make the most of my wardrobe by playing around with different color combinations. My mom gave me a color wheel as a gift. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to get it right…”

“…Can you please provide tips on how to combine colors for clothes? I saw the awesome post about color combos for makeup featuring Nicki Minaj. I would love to do the same with clothes. For instance, in a recent post Elise Neal wore a fuchsia dress and carried a blue clutch. The fuchsia and blue colors look great together! I would never know to do that. Also, are there certain rules for accessories?

The color wheel is an excellent wardrobe tool! In fact it was one of the first things I learned about back when I studied Image Consulting at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Figuring it out isn’t too complicated. Here’s a quick breakdown:

You can make the following combos using the color wheel as your guide:

1. Colors directly next to each other (i.e. yellow and yellow-orange; yellow and yellow-green; violet and blue-violet, etc.)
2. Colors that form right (90 degree) angles with each other (i.e. yellow and red-orange; blue and violet-red; green and orange, etc.)
3. Colors directly across from each other (i.e. yellow and violet; blue and orange; red and green, etc.)
4. Colors that form a T (i.e. blue, orange, and violet-red; yellow, violet, and red-orange; yellow, blue-green, and red-orange, etc.)
5. Colors that form an X (i.e. blue, orange, violet-red, and yellow, violet, blue-green, and red-orange, etc.)

Since brown is a neutral, it will go with virtually any color on the color wheel. I love to pair a chocolate brown with cobalt blue or fuchsia or bright red—such a fun and bold combo. Of course white, black, and the hues of blue found in denim are also neutrals that go with just about anything.

Colors that are a part of a “color family” also apply. So for instance, you can substitute pink with red and still be able to pull off the combos based on the color wheel (i.e. we see that blue and red form a right angle with each other–then in Elise Neal’s outfit she wore fuchsia and cobalt blue). Get it? Good.

As for accessories, I’m definitely not a fan of colored jewelry or belts, but go crazy with colored hats, bags, shoes, or scarves. When choosing jewelry, pair gold (or gold-toned) jewelry with your warm colored outfits. Warm colors have a yellow, gold, or orange undertone to them. Wear silver (or silver-toned) jewelry with your cool colored outfits. Cool colors have a blue, pink, or red undertone to them. Since colors are broken down by hue, temperature, intensity, and tone any single hue can be either warm or cool. Just look at the undertones.

You can also use the color wheel when coming up with color combinations for your makeup. It can help you decide which makeup color to wear so that you don’t match your eyeshadow with your outfit. Check out how Rihannapaired gorgeous purple eyeshadow with her red frock:

Red, white and Blue Ivy! Beyonce posted a series of photos on her Tumblr page, showing how she and husband Jay-Z have celebrated the start of summer and July 4 with their 18-month-old daughter, Blue.

In one photo, the "Crazy In Love" singer goes barefoot, posing in front of a Rolls Royce convertible while wearing American flag shorts, a white tank top with a horse printed on it and red-framed sunglasses. In another pic, the 31-year-old strikes a sexy pose near the car, showing off her toned legs and tiny waist.

As for the adorable family's food fare on 4th of July, the singer shared pictures of delicious corn on the cob, watermelon, lobster tails, and a cake honoring Jay-Z's upcoming new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail. On July 3, the couple were seen celebrating -- and dancing together -- at the star-studded release party in Brooklyn.

In a recent commercial for his new record, which will be released July 8, the rapper choked back tears while talking about Blue. "[She's] something that we both created, you know, we still marvel at her," he explained.
Beyonce has another reason to celebrate -- her father and former manager, Mathew Knowles, got married last Sunday, June 30. The Associated Press reports that he wed former model, Gena Charmaine Avery, in Houston, Tex.
